Barcelona Sports Photography

I was delighted with the professional portraits that Lee produced. He made the process easy and relaxed; I forget about feeling self-conscious and just enjoyed the session. Maria Hutchinson, Executive Coach

Sports photography in Barcelona

I think Sports Photography can, perhaps, be the best of two worlds. Not only does it often have the glamour of fashion, but also the intimacy of portraiture. On top of that, you get to add the action and dynamism inherent in most sports. What’s not to like? Everyone looks great, the scenes are usually vibrant, and the work demands dramatic captures. Another advantage is that photographers often have more creative freedom than in fashion shoots.

Originally, I had been taking sports images mostly as part of my editorial work—until one day, someone suggested I consider it as a specialty. At the time, I had no real idea how to pursue this, but I soon realized I had, almost by accident, accumulated enough strong images to justify its own section.

Interestingly, one particular job led me to try archery—and eventually, I became an avid archer myself. This just shows how much I love immersing myself in the stories I photograph. Whenever possible, I return to subjects repeatedly, which often leads to new friendships and a deeper curiosity about what I’m capturing. Despite my restless and impatient nature, I decided to give archery a try—and to my surprise, I got hooked. Who would have thought? Me, embracing one of the most precise and disciplined sports out there!

I have in the back of my mind a personal project on archers, I imagine a look, that mixes the hi-tech with the traditional elements; most of the archers I know seem willing, I just need to make the time.
